Video settings

The video settings panel allows to configure the type of monitor to emulate as well as how the monitor is emulated on the PC.

You can also change different specifications for the colors.

Three checkboxes allow to stretch horizontally and/or vertically the graphic part of the emulation and to emulate a MSX connected to a TV screen by visualisation of the scanlines.

Monitor type   Allows to choose between color, black and white, green or amber monitor.

Monitor emulation   Determines how the monitor picture is rendered .

The None option gives a raw square pixels.
The Monitor option gives the normal rendering that you can have on a real monitor.
The Scale 2x option gives a smoother image.

The Hq2x option gives also a smoother image, but requires a powerful PC;
in full screen mode and with at least the resolution 1024 x 768 selected in the Performance menu, the emulator will use the Hq3x scaler that gives impressive rendering effects !

The rest of the options tries to emulate an actual TV monitor with raster effect and the cathode ray.

     Gamma
     Brightness
     Contrast
     Saturation
By deplacing the corresponding slider, you can change the gamma aspect, the brightness, the contrast and the saturation of the colors to get the best result on your PC monitor.

Horizontal Stretch   When the checkbox is checked, the graphic part of the emulation is like on a real MSX. The horizontal stretch is available in all monitor emulation types.

De-interlace   When the checkbox is checked, interlaced mode works as in older blueMSX versions (before 1.6.1. version); if you uncheck the checkbox, you get 'real' interlaced mode, but it is only practical on a fast PC (> 2GHz) since it requires all frames to be drawn always. This feature is available in all monitor emulation types.

     Blend consecutive
     frames
When the checkbox is checked, two consecutive frames are blended. Although it's not a 'realistic' option, it makes for example the Unleashed demo and interlaced games run smoother. This feature is available in all monitor emulation types.

Vertical Stretch   When the checkbox is checked, your gaming space is bigger. The vertical stretch is available in all monitor emulation types

Scanlines   When the checkbox is checked, the graphic part of the emulation is like on a real MSX connected to a TV screen. You can determine the percentage of scanlines by deplacing the slider. The scanlines are available in all monitor emulation types.

RF-Modulator   When the checkbox is checked, you can see the effect that results from the connection to a TV screen by the RF-modulator cable. You can determine the amplitude of this effect by deplacing the slider. This effect is available in all monitor emulation types.
